Our Pub is situated in the village of Monkton Heathfield, just outside Taunton. This used to be in the parish of West Monkton and was first mentioned in the doomsday book. West Monkton parish was owned by the Abbot of Glastonbury and had three sub tenants; Monkton Heathfield became one of them. Monkton Heathfield was originally Monken Hethfeld and consists of 40 Acres. A movement of population from West Monkton to Monkton Heathfield saw new small holdings formed and helped to make Monkton Heathfield the Village it is today.
